Fellowship

YO! California is committed to building out pathways in Youth Organizing, cultivating the next generation of youth leaders, and strengthening the YO ecosystem in California.

Our Leads & Directors Fellowship is designed for youth organizing staff who are serving in strategic roles in their organizations as seasoned lead organizers or emerging directors and are interested in honing their leadership through a peer based cohort. Through the program individuals will deepen their core organizing & campaign strategy skills; explore, & redefine their supervision, team management, & leadership stance, and engage in generative & reflective space for healing and rejuvenation.

Fellowship Goals:

Through this 9 month leadership development fellowship, participants will:

  1. Expand Their Toolbox: explore, learn & practice concrete tools & skills in Supervision/Management, Loving Accountability, Building & Leading

  2. Cultivate a Nourishing Space for honest & courageous reflection, healing, joyful celebration & rejuvenation, being present and open to growth & transformation.

  3. Practice Embodying Purpose & Power: space for somatic self-awareness, tapping into the wisdom of self & body, and gaining clarity on purpose, path and leadership stance.

  4. Provide Peer Support & Build a Learning Community: create and build relationships with 20 other BIPOC youth organizing leaders across the state based on mutual trust, authenticity, and deepening interdependence in our movement ecosystem.

Key Components:

Over the course of the 9 months, fellows will participate in a program that includes:

  • In Person Retreats
  • Monthly Virtual Learning & Reflection Space
  • Coaching - Professional & Somatic
  • Praxis Pods - Peer Coaching, Learning & Support
