YO! Cali Team Provides “Deep Dive” Support to Local Youth Organizing Efforts
Spring is a time of planting seeds and cultivating new growth and staff from the YO! Cali anchor team have been in full gear this spring to provide support to help grow local youth organizing work in communities across California. These “deep dive” site support efforts provide an opportunity for local YO! Cali partner organizations to receive tailored workshops in fundamental youth organizing skills and participate in customized strategy sessions to develop local youth organizing models and plans.
Highlights from recent site support projects included introductory workshops and strategy sessions on the Youth Engagement Continuum and Transformative Youth Organizing for partner organizations with the Del Norte and Tribal Lands Building Healthy Communities Youth Training Academy in Crescent City and the Yurok Tribe in Klamath this May.
YO! Cali anchor staff are also working with the Youth Engagement Action Team in Sacramento to help local organizers develop and implement their first-ever summer Youth Leadership Academy and launch a youth-led narrative change campaign.
This June, YO! Cali staff worked with youth organizers from the Youth Organizing Council for Eastern Coachella Valley Building Healthy Communities to develop a “strategic compass” for their growing youth organizing project and set plans and strategies to strengthen their leadership development pathway.
